GCYE SCHOLARSHIP RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Scholarship amounts awarded will be determined each year by the Gregg County Youth Expo Board of Directors.
- The Gregg County Youth Expo does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, exhibitors, parents/guardians of exhibitors, board, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, donors, and clients.
- The Gregg County Youth Expo Board will determine which scholarship applicants will be awarded scholarships.
- Each FFA chapter and 4-H club associated with the Gregg County Youth Expo will be guaranteed a minimum of one scholarship per year.
- If an FFA chapter and/or 4H club associated with the Gregg County Youth Expo does not have any qualified scholarship applicants, then that FFA chapter and/or 4H club will forgo the guaranteed scholarship minimum for that year. And those scholarship funds may be awarded to an applicant or applicants of another FFA chapter and/or 4-H clubs, as the Gregg County Youth Expo Board of Directors deems fit.
- Applicants will be eligible to receive a Gregg County Youth Expo scholarship if they meet the eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must have shown a project in the Gregg County Youth Expo for a minimum of two years.
- Applicants must be a graduating senior.
- Applicants must be an active member of an FFA chapter or 4-H club associated with the Gregg County Youth Expo.
- Meeting all eligibility requirements does not guarantee an applicant will be awarded a Gregg County Youth Expo Scholarship.
- Applicants must submit and provide all of the required materials in order to be considered for a Gregg County Youth Expo Scholarship:
- Applicants must complete the Gregg County Youth Expo Scholarship Application.
- Applicants must complete a W-9 Form.
- Applicants must provide a 2X3/wallet size photograph of the applicant. Photographs may be used for newspaper announcements, the GCYE website, and/or promotional materials.
- Applicants must provide a signed official high school transcript.
- Applicants must provide a copy of the ACT or SAT Official Results.
- Applicants must provide at least one (1) to no more than three (3) individual reference letters from a non-relative employer, teacher, county extension agent, principal, administrator, pastor, or other upstanding member of the community.
- Applicants must have the completed Gregg County Youth Expo Scholarship Application and required materials postmarked or hand delivered to your agriculture science teacher or county agent by December 1 or the Friday before if 12/1 lands on a weekend.
- Applications must be mailed or hand delivered to: Gregg County Youth Expo, White Oak High School, 200 S. White Oak Rd, White Oak, TX 75693 Attention: Amanda Underwood
- Applicants will be required to participate in the Face to Face Scholarship Interview with a panel of judges on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, starting at 5:00pm at the White Oak High School Administration Building.
- Applicants will be randomly assigned an interview time by randomized.com, once applications are submitted.
- Interview times will be posted on the Gregg County Youth Expo Website by December 30th, 2022.
- Students will forfeit their scholarship opportunity if they are not present for their interview at the scheduled time, unless an emergency situation arrives.
- The panel of judges will be made up of 4-8 members from surrounding school districts.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified they will be awarded a Gregg County Youth Expo scholarship at the start of the Gregg County Youth Expo Sale of Champions. Scholarship recipients will be announced and will be presented their scholarship to kick off the Sale of Champions. All Scholarship Candidates must be present.
- Scholarships may be used to pay for tuition, lab fees, or any other expenses associated with any public or private college, university, or trade/technical school the recipient wishes to attend.
- Scholarship checks will be made out directly to the selected recipients, and will be given to the recipient the night of the GCYE Sale of Champions.
